Holistic Governance Concept with the Power Platform Foundation

The energy company EAM wanted to use the Microsoft Power Platform more efficiently and maximize the potential of this technology. To achieve this, it was necessary to develop clear guidelines and policies for the use of applications, as previous structures and best practices for end users were not comprehensively defined. The increasing popularity of the Power Platform in the company led to end users engaging with IT, while at the same time there was no comprehensive overview of the apps and flows already implemented. Although the integration of Dynamics 365 in the company was already at a high level, there was a lack of clear and structured approaches to effectively manage the low-code applications.

EAM's vision was to develop a central governance concept for the Power Platform that would meet the company's operational requirements and maturity level. The client aimed to identify typical governance and support issues and integrate them into the central service management. The aim was to use the Power Platform in a secure and compliant manner in order to minimize the risk of uncontrolled data leakage. In addition, the customer's IT team was to develop a sound understanding of the Power Platform and its administration options in order to be able to better advise internal employees.

Arvato Systems supported the EAM with a series of workshops on the Power Platform Foundation to establish specialist knowledge, guidelines and security settings in accordance with the governance basis. The team's extensive experience in consulting and implementation enabled a holistic approach without thematic gaps. An environment strategy and DLP (Data Loss Prevention) guidelines were developed in the workshops. The Center of Excellence Starter Kit was adapted to the specific requirements of EAM to enable deeper data analysis and improved support processes. A roadmap for the platform, processes and migrations was also developed.
