Project Overview

Initial Situation

In 2014, furniture hardware manufacturer Hettich began searching for a new IT outsourcing service provider to manage its SAP Basis operations, network infrastructure, servers, databases, and archiving. In addition to significantly improved availability, a compelling cost-benefit ratio also played a key role for Hettich. As Jens Menke, Infrastructure and Provider Manager at Hettich Management Service GmbH—a subsidiary of the Hettich Group—explains: “We essentially provided a draft contract and distributed it to the potential providers.”

Vision

It was not difficult for the experts at Arvato Systems to meet the Hettich Group’s requirements. The IT outsourcing offering was a good fit for Hettich both from a technical standpoint and from a procurement perspective. Today, Provider Manager Jens Menke praises, not least, the fair relationship with Arvato Systems: “A true partnership on equal footing has developed, in which Arvato Systems supports us not least as a highly competent consultant. And even if not all challenges are easy to overcome—we always find a solution together.”

Solution

After Arvato Systems began operations on November 1, 2015, the contract was extended in both 2020 and 2025. Today, Arvato Systems handles everything related to Hettich’s SAP operations, server and database support, archiving, and network infrastructure—both on-site at customer locations and in Arvato Systems’ data centers. Arvato Systems hosts many of Hettich’s approximately 120 servers in its own data center. “We really can’t outsource any more to Arvato Systems than our entire data center operations outsource,” explains Jens Menke.

Our Services

This successful collaboration most recently resulted in another contract extension in 2025. Once again, the decision was made in favor of Arvato Systems. “Since we began outsourcing to Arvato Systems, overall availability across all service areas has increased significantly,” explains Jens Menke, “System outages are virtually zero. And we also analyze promising future topics together and undertake pre-qualification projects jointly.” One thing is certain: The Hettich Group has also come to appreciate Arvato Systems’ consulting on issues related to the modernization of its IT infrastructure.
