From the Desktop Application to the Web Solution

WebCockpit load calculation

As part of its digital transformation, the Nordex Group has fundamentally overhauled its application for carrying out load calculations in 2023. The WebCockpit previously used as a desktop solution has been replaced by a modern, scalable web application under the same name.

The aim was to replace legacy technology, improve user-friendliness and increase the efficiency of central technical processes.

Advantages

Reduced complexity in load calculations
Higher data consistency and system performance
Modular architecture for fast customization
Basis for further digitization steps
Higher user acceptance and less support effort
More flexibility and improved maintainability

Advantages

With the new WebCockpit, we have not only significantly increased the efficiency of our processes, but also created the basis for future innovations.

Project Overview

Initial situation

The original WebCockpit was used as a locally installed desktop application. Due to the historically grown structure, the system was technically outdated, functionally limited and difficult to maintain. In addition, there were media disruptions, a lack of integration with internal tools and an outdated user interface, which led to a high level of manual effort and limited scalability. In addition, further development was becoming increasingly complex and resource-intensive.

Vision

The Nordex Group pursued the goal of completely renewing the application - with a future-proof architecture that integrates seamlessly into the existing IT landscape.

The new solution needed to simplify daily use, consolidate central data and processes and at the same time be flexibly expandable. The focus was on consistent user guidance, the integration of existing systems and a high level of technical maintainability.

Solution

Arvato Systems completely redeveloped the WebCockpit together with the Nordex Group - as a browser-based solution with a service-oriented, modular architecture. Established technologies such as Angular in the front end and .NET in the back end were used, as well as other frameworks and interfaces for flexible integration.

The new application offers centralized control of load calculation processes, direct access to simulation results and the integration of internal tools to avoid media discontinuities. All relevant information and functions are accessible via a uniform interface.

Our Services

The project was implemented in an agile setup, with regular coordination between the development team and the customer.

Arvato Systems supported the Nordex Group throughout all phases - from the initial system analysis to architecture planning and productive implementation. The long-term collaboration enabled efficient implementation based on sound process knowledge and clearly defined technical target images.
