Shaping Energy Supply in Germany, Today and in the Energy Mix of the Future - This Can Only Be Achieved With OGE

OGE, headquartered in Essen, is one of Germany's most extensive transmission system operators, with a pipeline network of around 12,000 kilometers. About 1,450 employees from sales, dispatching, service and technical infrastructure ensure that OGE customers receive their gas supplies throughout Germany. Reliably, in line with demand, on time, and in an environmentally friendly manner.

In the future, green gases will also flow through OGE's pipelines. To this end, OGE is working on innovative solutions to use green gases as the future energy source comprehensively.

Project Overview

Initial situation

As part of the realignment of its IT strategy, OGE planned to transform its classic on-premises workplaces into a cloud-based workplace solution. This digital workplace is intended to provide the information required quickly and securely, automate workflows, and simplify work processes. Employees should be able to exchange knowledge and communicate easily via this platform.

Vision

The primary goal is to build a cloud-based workplace with the help of M365. The key factors are a protected environment with an understandable governance and authorization concept corresponding to the company's activities and policies. The aim is to create a working environment that provides the right tools for communication and collaboration.

Solution

With the help of Arvato Systems, OGE was able to successfully implement the development of the Digital Workplace. The 500 pilot users using the Digital Workplace since 2021 will be followed by almost 1,000 more users in 2022. The extensive introduction of M365 has created a working environment that optimizes processes and meets all governance, compliance, and security requirements. With the redesign of the security concept, OGE achieved a significant increase in the security level and now relies on proactive security measures of the Microsoft Cloud.
