Our Commitment to DiversITy and Inclusion
Diversity is the foundation of our company's success
Our Diversity Strategy: DiversITy as a Strength
For us, the diversity of our employees is a prerequisite for innovation and the foundation of sustainable corporate success. The potential and abilities of all employees should be recognized, utilized, and developed to the fullest extent possible, regardless of their gender identity, age, skin color, origin, disability, or sexual orientation.
This also means that we firmly reject any form of discrimination and racism! We want to value not only similarities but also differences equally. After all, our diverse workforce makes us an innovative, competitive, and growing company.
Equal opportunities for all and the experience and exploitation of the enormous power of diversity to implement and shape change. At Arvato Systems, we want to make this a tangible experience, promote it and consistently expand it further! The more diversity, the more creativity, perspectives and evolution will be realized. Creating environments in which people can develop and grow is also a fundamental component of our Leadership Principles.
Experience Diversity
At Arvato Systems, we want to make equal opportunities and the enormous implementation and creative power of diversity and inclusion tangible. Only a diverse workforce that brings different perspectives to the table gives rise to creativity and genuine innovation. That is why we are committed to recognizing, promoting, and making the best possible use of the potential and skills of all our employees. For us, Experience Diversity is more than just a slogan - it's a promise. A promise that we will actively contribute to breaking down barriers, combating discrimination, and building bridges between people. With the launch of our new logo, we owe it to take another step at Arvato Systems: for more openness, respect, and cooperation.
The Dimensions of the Diversity Charter
We want to bring diversity to life in our company and have already achieved a lot in recent years. Our initiatives and offers are based on the Diversity dimensions of the Diversity Charter.
Sexual Orientation & Gender Identity
Our network for LGBTIQ+ employees and allies at Bertelsmann, be.queer, is committed to an open working environment for all people, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. The network aims to raise awareness of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer issues, increase visibility, and break down any barriers.
Being able to be yourself at work – be.queer has developed a guide to ensure this for trans* people. It encourages trans* employees to live their gender identity at work and provides tips and points of contact to help shape this process. Managers and HR play an important role in the coming-out process and transition. They can contribute significantly to shaping the opinions and acceptance of their employees and make the process as pleasant as possible for trans* people. Another guide has been created specifically for these managers.
Gender
To further increase diversity at all levels, our parent company, Bertelsmann, has set itself the goal of promoting gender equality in all areas of the company and increasing the proportion of women in top and senior management. There are also several initiatives and events related to gender diversity at Arvato Systems.
Physical & Mental Abilities
People with mental or physical disabilities—visible and invisible—as well as people with chronic illnesses, are a part of our society that is often overlooked. We have therefore made it our mission to promote inclusion in all areas of our company and to respond to the special needs and abilities of all people.
Bertelsmann Action Plan Inclusion
To reinforce an inclusive attitude, Bertelsmann has published its Inclusion Action Plan. Based on this plan, all employees with disabilities at Bertelsmann companies in Germany should be able to work without barriers and contribute their full potential to the company's success.
Representative for severely disabled persons
To implement the Inclusion Action Plan and the Group Inclusion Agreement, the local representatives for employees with disabilities (SBV) and the general and Group representatives for employees with disabilities work daily to break down barriers and offer employees with disabilities the same opportunities and development prospects.
Recruiting initiative myAbility
One aspect of inclusion is the opportunity to apply for jobs on an equal footing. That is why we cooperate with myAbility. This platform allows people with disabilities and chronic illnesses to search for jobs without fear of discrimination. All our jobs are published on myAbility via an interface.

Physical and mental health are important factors in everyday working life and an essential prerequisite for quality of life, performance, and social participation. Health problems are widespread. We take a preventive approach with our wide range of services and offer numerous initiatives. Mental health is essential at Arvato Systems, so we have launched many services, initiatives, and events (such as the mental health app Phileo, our Mental First Aid initiative, and training courses on healthy leadership).
Nationality
With over 3,000 employees at over 25 locations worldwide, Arvato Systems comes from all over the world. We come from various ethnic and cultural backgrounds and bring many perspectives, experiences, and skills. That is why we are involved in the following initiatives, among others, and offer many opportunities.
The ReDI School is a non-profit school that supports people with a migration background, refugees, and those in need with an affinity for IT in their integration into the German job market. We cooperate with the initiative by participating in job events and meeting students. We also advertise entry-level positions on the ReDI job platform, and colleagues are active as mentors at the ReDI School.
Our Coffee Connection initiative allows our employees to get to know colleagues from across the company and worldwide in an informal setting during coffee breaks, fostering cross-departmental and cross-location exchange.
With the online language courses, Bertelsmann University, in cooperation with Learnship, offers all employees the opportunity to improve their language skills, including English. In the Virtual Classroom, employees can meet with trainers worldwide, alone or in groups.
The war in Ukraine has triggered the largest refugee crisis in Europe since World War II. Many of the refugees want to work and are allowed to do so, including many IT specialists. To offer these people career prospects, we have teamed up with other Bertelsmann companies to create a global job search list for Ukrainians who have fled their country and/or Ukrainians looking for work.
